Newly elected in November 2024, Krista Gallagher is the MLA for Halifax-Chebucto. She brings plenty of passion and life experience to her new role. Krista was born and raised in the Annapolis Valley surrounded by agriculture. Both sets of her grandparents were farmers and her father is still involved in the agricultural sector, instilling enthusiasm for fresh produce and food sovereignty in Krista from childhood. She spent years abroad in Abu Dhabi as a flight attendant then returned home to attend NSCC for Tourism Management. Her journey then took her to Beijing where she worked at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing with the Defence Program. After travelling to 52 different cities, Krista brought her talents back home to valley winery Lightfoot and Wolfville. It was during her time there that she met her husband Sean. Together, they own Local Source Market and provide the broader West End neighbourhood with fresh offerings from throughout the Atlantic provinces. Krista is a devoted mother and loves spending time at the beach with her family, cooking, and going on road trips. After meeting at a winery, it should be no surprise that Krista and her husband enjoy learning about wine and traveling to wine farms and wineries.

Krista wants to work with her team to help build a Nova Scotia where no one is left behind. As a mother, she understands the need for a healthy community and wants to live in a province where everyone can afford to live and access the health care they need.

She is very proud and excited to be the NS NDP Critic for; Agriculture, Aquaculture & Fisheries, Economic Growth & Development & Gaelic Affairs.
